🏗️Building and managing your SMS content

This page covers how to add new content to a vessel or other marine asset from the fleet dashboard.

Note that there is currently no way to simply import a whole SMS as Word doc or PDF into OffshoreSMS.

There are just too many different SMSs all with different structure, which makes mapping the content virtually impossible. For now...

You should manage all of the assets profile and content from the asset's dashboard:

1. From your fleet home page, click "Marine Assets" or the ship icon, top left of screen, then select an asset.

2. Select the SMS tab and select the area you want to edit. I.E. Risk assessments.

All sections function exactly the same, EXCEPT risk assessments, which use a step through format to build your risk assessments. See here for information on Risk Assessments

As a minimum, each item needs a TITLE and some DETAILS. For now the details section does not support rich text, which means that Word doc formatting may not display the same. We are working on this in 2026 so keep an eye out!

You can also add a web link to external content, images and PDFs to content items.
