πŸ”§Setting up plant & equipment items

Information on how to add plant and equipment items to a marine asset.

Each P&E item can have its own maintenance schedules that can be tracked either by plant hours or by time.

Examples of plant & equipment items include:

  • Main engine/s (outboards, inboards etc)

  • Individual engines (ie port engine, starboard engine)

  • Generators

  • Cranes or other lifting gear

  • Fuel systems

  • Electrical systems

  • Navigation equipment

  • Auxiliary motors

  • Other larger machinery

Users often add a general P&E Category like "Hull and Fixtures" to capture any miscellaneous maintenance or set up general vessel maintenance schedules.

Items like life rafts, Fire extinguishers, electrical equipment, critical spares or consumables are best added to the "General Inventory" section. See Inventory and Equipment for more information.

Adding a Plant or Equipment item:

  1. From the asset's home page, select the "Maintenance" tab, then "Plant and Major Equipment".

  2. Click "+Add Item"

  3. Follow the 5 setup steps in the pop-up window that opens up.

The 5 setup steps are:

  1. Name of the P&E item and Description (a good place for make, model, supplier etc)

  2. Add an image of the item. A picture says a thousand words!

  3. Choose to track hours on this item, and enter the current hours if known.

    1. This means app users will be able to input the hours at start up and shut down, and allow the system to track and flag any maintenance schedules based on plant hours.

  4. Link any inventory items if you have any set up

    1. Linking inventory means that when a scheduled maintenance log is recorded in the app, you can optionally record any inventory items that were used and they will be deducted from the assets inventory list.

  5. Review and Save.

TIP: You can re-order the list of P&E items by using the Update Saved Order button at the top of the page.
